Blogging University, Day 2
I’m participating in the WordPress Blogging University for 14 days. Today’s task is to work on my title and my tagline. Well, I’m blogging for over a year now and have a title. And I still love the name of my blog! It suits me and the blog very well. The title of my blog and my blog address are actually the same, but I don’t have a tagline yet. A tagline is a phrase that appears under your title and helps to flesh it out. My “blog theme” might not even display the tagline and honestly I wouldn’t like words in my title picture, but I still want to complete the daily assignment hence I have to come up with a personal tagline.
WordPress’ advice: “Try listing adjectives that describe your personality, and play around with the words until you can tweak them into a name that’s catchy but uniquely “you.” Puns always work well. Start with certain common phrases, songs, and literary titles, and then mix the words up. Or use your own name in a clever way.”
Ok, two new words for me right here:
To flesh it out something is to give it substance, or to make it fuller or more nearly complete.
A pun is a joke that makes a play on words. A pun, also called a paronomasia, uses words that have several meanings or words that sound similar but have different meanings.
Examples:
I’ve been to the dentist many times so I know the drill.
How do construction workers party? They raise the roof.
When a woman returns new clothing, that’s post traumatic dress syndrome.
No matter how much you push the envelope, it will still be stationary. ©yourdictionary.com
Anyway, my tagline.
A genuine German growing on the greener grass.
Expat adventures and advice.
Not. Perfect.
Work in progress. But I completed my daily task of Blogging University and now we all know what a tagline is. I learned a few more words and had some good laughs reading puns. Check them out.
What’s next? Tomorrow I’m gonna learn more about the WordPress Reader. And you? Do you want to grow with me? Try to write a tagline for yourself just for fun. It’s a challenge. Ask a friend to give you adjectives that describe you best. That’s what I did. Thanks, friend! My next post will be influenced by my audience. Who are my readers? Who do I think of when drafting a post. Stay tuned.
