Three Word Thursday #22
My weekly wool gathering is again linked up with Amanda’s Running with Spoons. Hop over and check out other interesting arbitrary ideas.
ξ There was an earthquake on Monday 6pm PST and we didn’t feel it. That happened before, but I’m starting to get a bit nervous. I’m still waiting for some new supplies for our earthquake box that I’ve ordered on Amazon and my husband is traveling. Do you live in California or another area that is prone to earthquakes? What is your best advice in case of an earthquake?
ξ My dear friend came over for dinner on Thursday and brought a bottle of very good Pinot Noir. During the summer I usually don’t drink red wine, but I realize that fall has begun. Besides, this wine was so good that I declare my red wine season as open.
ξ The American Soccer Team didn’t qualify for the World Championships! That sucks! I love to watch my two countries play, preferably against each other, but no, not happening. Well, Germany will be World Champion 2018 anyway.
ξ National Teach German Day was on October 4th and I missed it completely. Honestly, I didn’t even know that this day exists until I saw this button at my school’s teacher lounge. And on October 6th was the National German-American Day, too. I wrote about this day before. Tonight, we will celebrate accordingly when my German besties come over, two of whom are teachers as well.
ξ You should have asked. Have you read this post? Women are suffering from mental (over-)load. Emma’s sketches and writing are interesting, pretty accurate and show what mothers have to think about every day and every night.
ξ The wildfires in Northern California are only 3 % contained. Right now, the firefighters are mostly trying to avoid more fires to occur. The winds are still strong and the air quality here in San Jose got worse every hour yesterday. When I left the house this morning, I had the feeling that it got a bit better, but when I got out of my car in Mountain View at 7.40am it smelled so strong that I felt like sitting next to a campfire. Just the s’mores were missing. Sorry, inappropriate joke. On my way home I went to Home Depot and the respirator masks were almost sold out! These fires are happening in our “backyard” and I’m so sad for all the people who lost everything or still fearing they might loose their houses, belongings or jobs. Hug a firefighter today if you see one! I hope they’ll be able to stop the fires soon!
ξ Finally, probably only this time, I want to agree with Rex Tillerson. This president is a f*©#ing moron! What does he even mean saying “That’s the calm before the storm.” Does he really mean what I think he means? It’s making me really nervous and listening to this NPR interview with Dexter Filkins, a staff writer of the New Yorker made me feel worse.
ξ Since I don’t want to end on such a negative note, I think we all deserve this virtual hug today. Stay safe and have a great weekend!
