Speaking German is not always easy. Have you been living abroad for some time? Do you have children? Do your children go to public schools and not to a German private school? Your children don’t speak enough German and make...
Back to school and other stuff. Thinking out loud #2 Last week I participated in this linkup from Amanda’s running with spoons for the first time. I thought it might be weird to have another post format for Thursdays, but I...
Just a random post because it is National Bratwurst Day. Yes, that’s right. I wouldn’t have known, but Huffington Post keeps me posted about important stuff like that 😉 Celebrate National Bratwurst Day. I’ve actually planned pasta for the family’s...
A camping weekend in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park was the last adventure of our summer break. It took us about 3 hours too long to get there, because you know, Bay Area traffic sucks. It sucks in general and...
Do you like to make a plan? I am a planner. I love making plans. Especially planning our next trip. A good friend recently said that I was not happy, if I wouldn’t have the next adventure lined up. I...

I’m Kathrin, a German who’s been living the last 16 years in the crazy world of the Silicon Valley. Even though I love our life in California, I’m still missing Köln (Cologne) and the German lifestyle. On this blog I share some of my stories and ruminate about what home really means. I’m a mother of two girls and the wife of an iSlave, a teacher, a social introvert and very passionate about the things I do.
I’m glad you’re here! Schön, dass du hier bist!
