Three Word Thursday No. 29 Today hasn’t been the greatest day. It’s Weiberfastnacht, the official start of the 5th Karneval season back home. I’m generally not very chipper on this day, because I’d rather be dressed...
Close friends don’t always live close to you. Do you live abroad? Far away from most of your family and dear friends? I do. And I’m always looking for suitable and original gifts for friends abroad, meaning back home in...
My weekly ramble #33 Monday, time for a recap of the weekend. Tom Brady dropped the ball. Justin Timberlake did not sing a duet with a hologram of Prince, but it was still a cool halftime show. And on Saturday...
My weekly ramble no. 32 My husband and I got to enjoy a rather rare kids-free weekend in San Francisco. Saturday night, we enjoyed a fun company party at the de Young Museum and on Sunday we met a good...

I’m Kathrin, a German who’s been living the last 16 years in the crazy world of the Silicon Valley. Even though I love our life in California, I’m still missing Köln (Cologne) and the German lifestyle. On this blog I share some of my stories and ruminate about what home really means. I’m a mother of two girls and the wife of an iSlave, a teacher, a social introvert and very passionate about the things I do.
I’m glad you’re here! Schön, dass du hier bist!
