Happy New Year!
This year is almost over and I really wanted to write one last blogpost. I haven’t written a lot in the last seven months. It’s been a very busy year and I just didn’t take the time to write. I...

Today I hosted the first official Cöllefornia-Stammtisch at Ludwig’s German Table in San José. A Stammtisch = German for “regulars’ table”, is an informal group meeting held on a regular basis. It is not a structured meeting, but rather a...
It is about time to write again. My last post was end of May and even though I wrote a few articles for Heimat Abroad, I didn’t write anything just for myself. I’ve missed blogging, but life was very busy here,...
Meditation makes my day complete. I’ve been using meditation apps for more than a year now. This post has been sitting in my draft folder for a while now and it is time to be published. Last May I took...
Last week I had another coffee date with a fellow German expat woman. Monique Menesi lives in Portland, Oregon and that’s why it was a virtual meeting. I went to Barefoot Coffee in Campbell, had a Mexican Mocha while FaceTiming...

I’m Kathrin, a German who’s been living the last 16 years in the crazy world of the Silicon Valley. Even though I love our life in California, I’m still missing Köln (Cologne) and the German lifestyle. On this blog I share some of my stories and ruminate about what home really means. I’m a mother of two girls and the wife of an iSlave, a teacher, a social introvert and very passionate about the things I do.
I’m glad you’re here! Schön, dass du hier bist!
