To my friend Blogging University, Day 4 Today I’m supposed to write a post and to identify my audience. I’m thinking about who really visits my blog and reads my posts? I’m still in an early stage of blogging I […]
Blogging University, Day 2 I’m participating in the WordPress Blogging University for 14 days. Today’s task is to work on my title and my tagline. Well, I’m blogging for over a year now and have a title. And I still love […]
From my front door I read the post “From my front door” last week on one of the blogs I’m following “The helpful hiker” and it totally inspired me to write a blog post about the same topic. What can […]
I’m a German living in the Silicon Valley, Bay Area, California, US. Moving here changed my life. Living in another country comes with a lot of problems, new difficult tasks, expectations, disillusions and misconceptions. Living abroad also brings a lot of experiences, […]
Today I’m on a little trip to home. Which is kind of ironic, because exactly 8 years ago today, we arrived at SFO and started our new life in California. This morning we left the house at 7.05am (yawn) and […]
Today is one of these days when I get a bit homesick because I know that many of my friends are celebrating right now and are having a good time. And that’s because tomorrow is the first day of May […]

For almost 8 years now I live here in the US and I’ve been experiencing so many cultural differences. The Silicon Valley must be a paradise for anthropologists. Here you can probably find every single nationality there is and study them. […]
Words of the day
Courage isn’t having
the strength to go on –
it is to go on when
you don’t have the strength.

Hi! Hallo!
I’m Kathrin, a German who’s been living the last 16 years in the crazy world of the Silicon Valley. Even though I love our life in California, I’m still missing Köln (Cologne) and the German lifestyle. On this blog I share some of my stories and ruminate about what home really means. I’m a mother of two girls and the wife of an iSlave, a teacher, a social introvert and very passionate about the things I do.
I’m glad you’re here! Schön, dass du hier bist!
