Water towers in Mendocino We just got back from a wonderful road trip to Northern California and Oregon, which I will probably tell you more about in the next couple weeks. On our last day we checked out Glass Beach […]
A walk along 4-mile beach I have to catch up. On Father’s Day we made a trip to Santa Cruz. First we had breakfast at “Café Brasil” on Mission Street. Its’ rated the #5 place for breakfast & brunch in the area. […]
4 hours in San Francisco Yesterday I went to the city. I should do this more often. I love being in the city. I’m a city girl. I had coffee and cinnamon toast at Trouble Coffee Co. in the Outer […]
I don’t even know what the title of this blogpost is gonna be yet, but I feel I have to write my thoughts down this morning to get some clarity. Sometimes, living in the Silicon Valley really sucks for me. […]
Last Friday I got a message from Lauren who has the wonderful blog “The helpful hiker”. She gave me the inspiration to one of my weekly rambles and I’ve been enjoying to read about her outdoor adventures in England. She […]

John Nicholas Trail Again my ramble was not a walk and talk, but a ride & talk. In fact, it was my first mountain bike ride ever. I can hardly believe that’s true, but it is. I’ve been a recreational cyclist […]
Words of the day
Courage isn’t having
the strength to go on –
it is to go on when
you don’t have the strength.

Hi! Hallo!
I’m Kathrin, a German who’s been living the last 16 years in the crazy world of the Silicon Valley. Even though I love our life in California, I’m still missing Köln (Cologne) and the German lifestyle. On this blog I share some of my stories and ruminate about what home really means. I’m a mother of two girls and the wife of an iSlave, a teacher, a social introvert and very passionate about the things I do.
I’m glad you’re here! Schön, dass du hier bist!
