It is beginning to look a lot like christmas…. every store you go. It is very American to dress up according to the season. Or maybe a Anglo-Saxon custom, because we all remember Mr. Darcy’s reindeer jumper from the first Bridget […]

If you have ever been to California, you hopefully have seen the most beautiful stretch of Highway 1 between Carmel-by-the-sea and Cambria. And if you haven’t been to the Golden State yet, make sure you won’t miss this part, because it […]
Start something new! A year from now you will wish you had started today. Karen Lamb Someone posted this quote on facebook a pretty long time ago and I instantly liked it. So I’m using it as my writing prompt for today’s […]
After my post about the things I love about my life here, the opposite blogpost is now in order. You can’t get a decent “Brötchen”. Not even in a German bakery. No one here seems to have a clue how to […]

it is to go on when

Hi! Hallo!
I’m Kathrin, a German who’s been living the last 16 years in the crazy world of the Silicon Valley. Even though I love our life in California, I’m still missing Köln (Cologne) and the German lifestyle. On this blog I share some of my stories and ruminate about what home really means. I’m a mother of two girls and the wife of an iSlave, a teacher, a social introvert and very passionate about the things I do.
I’m glad you’re here! Schön, dass du hier bist!
