It is September, hence Oktoberfest season!
Why is Oktoberfest in September though?
Oktoberfest starts in September because its final day has a fixed spot on the calendar. The last day of the festival is always on the first Sunday of October. As Oktoberfest has grown in popularity and stature, organizers have worked backward to capitalize on September’s warmer weather.

This year again, there are many different Oktoberfests in the Bay Area. It seems there is more every year. Our good friends actually used to host a regular Oktoberfest but unfortunately don’t do so anymore. That’s why we recently have been going to the Oktoberfest at my friends Nicole restaurant “Ludwig German Table” in San Jose. If you are interested, there are still tickets available for this and the following Saturday. You can buy them here.
The Oktoberfest in Campbell downtown is also pretty popular around here, we’ve been there a few times. They offer a wide variety of beers and offer entertainment for children as well. This year it is held on Saturday, October 19th and Sunday, October 20th.
If you’re not in the South Bay you can check this article of the San José Mercury News for all the Oktoberfests in the Bay Area.
Maybe I’ll see you at Ludwig’s this Saturday? Prost – enjoy the season, Halloween is coming up soon!
