Today on December 6th Germans celebrate the Nikolaus-Day. You might have heard of Saint Nick, but I don’t think it is quite the same. My school put together this informational text for non-german families.
Here you can read all about the Nikolaus tradition.
Today’s happy memory is a picture from 2010. These are our first four chickens: Blueberry, Elfriede, Angela M., and Toopy. Blueberry unfortunately only lived one more week after this photo was taken, but Toopy is still alive and now 10 years old!!

Behind the 6th door of my 2020 Advent Calendar, you will find a coloring sheet with an inspirational quote. Maybe something you’d enjoy on a lazy Sunday afternoon? I found it on Doodle Art Alley where you can find a lot more of them. Enjoy!

Don’t forget to light the second candle on your “Adventskranz” (advent wreath), heat up some “Glühwein” (mulled wine), and eat some Christmas cookies.

Oh, and my daughter and I will celebrate another tradition this afternoon, watching “Drei Haselnüsse für Aschenbrödel”. It was made in 1973 and I’ve been watching this movie every holiday season for as long as I can remember. A true classic. And it is actually on Youtube, although I don’t know how good the quality is.
Happy second advent! 🕯🕯
