This was my first walk in 2017. After about 10 days of rain in the Silicon Valley (which is kind of a contradiction in itself), the weekend was supposed to be sunny and dry. And it was. We drove to Aptos and parked right outside the “Seascape Beach Resort”. We walked down Summer Avenue and crossed the train tracks past Seascape Park to get to the water. The Pacific greeted us with its deep blue and there couldn’t have been more perfect views.
We walked along the cliff and found this Whale Totem.
From there we took the pathway that leads to the hotel and then down to the beach. You could still see that it had rained a lot just recently.
The beach at Seascape is located right between the Beer Can Beach and Manresa State Beach and you can walk for miles in either direction.
We found some cool driftwood art and a whole tree floating in the water.
We walked back up to the Hotel and had lunch at Sanderlings Restaurant. We sat outside in the sun, overlooking the “Wedding Bluff” and the ocean and watched some deers who were grazing peacefully right in front of us. It was so nice and almost kitschy that you could not believe that it was actually real.
These views, the company and a glass of wine made this walk the best possible first walk of the year. I love you, California!
