Hi! Hallo!

I’m Kathrin, a German who’s been living the last 16 years in the crazy world of the Silicon Valley. Even though I love our life in California, I’m still missing Köln (Cologne) and the German lifestyle. On this blog I share some of my stories and ruminate about what home really means. I’m a mother of two girls and the wife of an iSlave, a teacher, a social introvert and very passionate about the things I do.

I’m anxious about the upcoming election results in Germany later today.
After all, I was not able to vote, but I’m hoping the majority of my people have learned from our past, and are smart and forward-looking enough to vote for democracy and against the far-right AfD!
With everything that is currently going on in my second home and all over the world, I wish Germany a people-friendly government that focuses on important issues such as education and the climate crisis. Because without solutions for those two issues, there will not be a better future. 💚

You still get the best view of “the castle” 🏰 #neuschwanstein when you’re hiking down from the top.
It’s a beautiful trail with occasional climbing and some steep cliffs.
Not really for people who tend to feel vertigo’s. And like me, you might have sore calves for a couple days. 😂

Oahu 🌺 exceeded all our expectations.
Waikiki, Diamond Head, Manoa Valley, Waimea Falls, from Turtle Bay, to Hale’iwa, and the Seven Mile miracle in between, we enjoyed every place.
There is so much more beauty to explore, so I hope we’ll be back one day.
Best part was spending time with the whole crew. 💕
