In February I shared with you my new meetup group and our first meeting on the blog. Since then the group has grown to 52 members and we had two more successful meetings.
Three weeks ago four other women and I met at my friends Art Studio to make vision boards. A vision board is a tool used to help clarify, concentrate and maintain focus on a specific life goal. Literally, a vision board is any sort of board on which you display images that represent whatever you want to be, do or have in your life. You can read more about vision boards in these articles:
The reason vision boards work and how to make one
The purpose of your vision board is to bring everything on it to life.
We had a fun night, talking, going through magazines and making the boards together. We exchanged our stories and experiences about living in different countries. Everyone went home with her own vision board to put it in a place where you can see it every day. On my way home I felt really inspired and empowered and I hope the others felt the same way.
For the third meeting I had scheduled a hike. Yesterday, we met at the Mine Hill trailhead in the Almaden Quicksilver County Park and since there was a good chance of rain, we decided to just hike a small loop and then go for coffee after.
I met Su-Lin from Malaysia again, who already attended the vision board making night and Liza from Guatemala. Unfortunately we missed two other women that already walked up the hill and waited in a different spot.
We had a great conversation about life in the Silicon Valley in general, the housing market, visa and immigration issues, work opportunities, our families, life coaching and family constellations. We went for coffee at Blvd Coffee and I really enjoyed spending time with these two women. I am so glad I started this Meetup group and I’m already looking forward to the upcoming events. My hope for this group is to bring more amazing women together, and to inspire and support each other. Here’s the link to the group.
