It is beginning to look a lot like christmas…. every store you go.
It is very American to dress up according to the season. Or maybe a Anglo-Saxon custom, because we all remember Mr. Darcy’s reindeer jumper from the first Bridget Jones movie.
Anyway, it is very common here in the US to wear something matching the current holiday. You wear green for Saint Patrick’s Day, orange for Halloween and don’t dare to wear anything else than red when you go to a christmas party! I still remember my embarrassment when I was invited to a christmas cookie exchange party and I was the only one wearing a turquoise sweater!
And it is already here: the ugly Christmas sweater time. It sneaks up on you. I was still busy buying Halloween stuff at Target and there it was: Christmas all over the store. Side by side with Thanksgiving decorations. You can see Christmas treats in the European stores in the middle of October as well, but I don’t remember seeing Christmas related clothing to such an extent. Honestly, I don’t remember seeing Christmas fashion at all, but that might have changed. Please let me know about that!
You can get almost everything at Target: Christmas pajamas, reindeer headbands for children, a huge variety of Christmas dresses, Santa hats, Christmas sweatpants, underwear and a whole Christmas suit for men.
Darth Vader xmas clothing – really?
Don’t get me wrong, I’m all in for cozy xmas slippers or pajamas with sleighs and reeindeers, but please be considerate about your fashion choices during the upcoming holidays! Sometimes less is more!
Happy holidays!
