Three Word Thursday #28
My friend posted her incredible chore chart on Facebook this week and she gave me permission to share it here on my blog. I think it is brilliant, that she included not only her kids, but also her husband and herself. Seeing her chart, I felt the need to step up our game and make a new chore chart (Our current one is not working that well anymore ;-)). Naturally, you can find lots of other examples for chore charts on Pinterest. My friend is a super mom with super powers and she is a big inspiration. She hosts the weekly Cookie Tuesday in the neighborhood and you should check out her cookie Instagram here. FYI, if you google Cookie Tuesday, my blogpost shows up first thing, yay!
Why are doing chores for kids so important?
“By making them do chores — taking out the garbage, doing their own laundry — they realize I have to do the work of life in order to be part of life. It’s not just about me and what I need in this moment.”
Julia Lythcott-Haims
Listen to her Ted Talk and/or read these articles:

We go one step further. Our girls get less allowance if they don’t do their chores. We either deduct $1 or $2 or, in a very bad week ;-), they get none at all.
Do you have plans for spring break? I’m super disappointed since I just realized that my 2-week long Easter break does actually not overlap with my girl’s spring break, boo! I was making plans for either a short road trip through Utah or to go back to Joshua Tree National Park, which must be gorgeous in spring time. Unfortunately, this trip won’t happen now, but I found this colorful hotel on Instagram and added it to my travel list instantly. Check out the Saguaro Hotel in Palm Springs.
The Winter Games start next week!
Next week I will start teaching Sport aka PE in a third grade. I can’t wait to finally teach an elementary class again. The last time I taught an entire class of 3rd-grade kids was a long time ago. And I’m so excited that this occasion will go hand in hand with the Winter Olympics 2018 in Korea. I love Olympic Games! You can find a lot of nice teaching materials on teacherspayteachers.com and these are very nice reading cards in German about the different winter sports in the Olympics.
Once again, I’ve linked up with Amanda from Running with Spoons. Hop over and check out other Thursday thoughts.
