It is December, 1st. Yeah! The anticipation of christmas has officially begun. As a German I’m still having trouble waiting that long, because I like this time of the year so much. Living in Germany, the season for me started right...
Visitors and Fish Two days ago was the last of 33 days in a row having people visiting us. At the beginning of October our friends for almost 8 years from Switzerland arrived. They used to live here in the Valley with...
Californians have white teeth. Californians are relaxed, helpful and positive people. They smile a lot and it’s not odd to get smiled at by a complete stranger. Tons of Californians are actually from somewhere else. Californians are more tolerant of...
Let it go Last week we had friends over for BBQ with their three girls. So we had a total of five girls between 5 and 11 years old. We had a moment that afternoon where we looked at each...
Are you member in a facebook group? Probably. If not, you’re not missing anything. People love fb groups for different reasons. I’m member in a cycling, a camping, a group from my old home town, a group of Germans in...
typisch deutsche Dinge Wie schon mal erwähnt, vermisse ich mein Heimatland doch recht regelmäßig. I’m Kathrin, a German who’s been living the last 12 years in the crazy world of the Silicon Valley. Even though I love our life in California, I’m still missing Köln (Cologne) and the German lifestyle. On this blog I share some of my stories and ruminate about what home really means. I’m a mother of two girls and the wife of an iSlave, a teacher, a social introvert and very passionate about the things I do.
I’m glad you’re here! Schön, dass du hier bist!
