My weekly ramble #33 Monday, time for a recap of the weekend. Tom Brady dropped the ball. Justin Timberlake did not sing a duet with a hologram of Prince, but it was still a cool halftime show. And on Saturday I took my girls to one of the best known parks in the Bay Area. […]
My weekly ramble no. 32 My husband and I got to enjoy a rather rare kids-free weekend in San Francisco. Saturday night, we enjoyed a fun company party at the de Young Museum and on Sunday we met a good friend for brunch at Pat’s café on Taylor Street. It was glorious weather in the […]
My weekly ramble No. 30 Finally I get to share more of my happy place with you. Hopfen am See (Hopfen-by-the-lake) is a little lakeside village that belongs to Füssen. It’s located in the state of Bavaria and the Southeast of the Allgäu. Most people probably know Neuschwanstein, the castle that served as a model for the […]
Dear followers and friends! It’s already the third day of the new year and I haven’t blogged for a while now. We spent the last two and a half weeks in Germany and it’s been a busy time as always. Visiting home is wonderful and fun, but at times slightly too busy. Trying to see everyone […]
Three Word Thursday #26 I’m linking up with Amanda from Running with Spoons. Hop over and check out other random thoughts. 1 First, I’m thinking about the victims of the Sandy Hook shooting five years ago. It still makes me feel sick to my stomach thinking about all the innocent children that […]
In my monthly link love I’m sharing articles, pictures, books and videos I’ve clipped during the last month. We were on vacation over Thanksgiving and I was busy doing nothing. That’s why this December Link Love is rather short. If you have a book or and interesting article you want to share, please comment! Thank […]
My weekly ramble #29 If you read my post Q is for… (weekly ramble #26) you know that this was my second attempt to hike up Mount Umunhum. This time we found a parking spot and successfully hiked the 8.2. mile loop up and back down the legendary summit. It was perfect hiking […]
Today was a beautiful Sunday with sleeping in, family breakfast, a bike ride with my guy, decluttering the garage, baking a Mohn-Streuselkuchen (poppy seed crumble cake) and some shopping. I realized that it’s only seven more weeks to Christmas! And we’re going to Germany for Weihnachten and I’m very much looking forward to it. I […]
My weekly ramble #27 No luck with Half Dome Yosemite National Park is one of the most beautiful places in California. It is part of my A to Z of California in “Y is for…”. And the Half Dome is probably the state’s most famous landmark. The hike up this legendary Dome is on my […]
My weekly ramble #26 and places in California In order to get ready for our big hiking adventure this weekend, my friend and I went for a training hike last Sunday. Originally we had planned to hike up to Mount Umunhum. Unfortunately the new road up to the top, as well as the access to […]
Words of the day
Tell me, what you will do with your one wild and precious life?
— Mary Oliver
I’m Kathrin, a German who’s been living the last 9 years in the crazy world of Silicon Valley. Even though I love our life in California, I’m still missing Köln (Cologne) and the German lifestyle a lot. On this blog I share some of my stories and ruminate about what home really means. I’m a mother of two girls and the wife of an iSlave, a teacher, a social introvert and very passionate about the things I do.
I’m glad you’re here! Schön, dass du hier bist!
