In my monthly link love I’m sharing articles, pictures, books and videos I’ve clipped during the last month. We were on vacation over Thanksgiving and I was busy doing nothing. That’s why this December Link Love is rather short. If you have a book or and interesting article you want to share, please comment! Thank […]
Three Word Thursday #22 My weekly wool gathering is again linked up with Amanda’s Running with Spoons. Hop over and check out other interesting arbitrary ideas. ξ There was an earthquake on Monday 6pm PST and we didn’t feel it. That happened before, but I’m starting to get a bit nervous. I’m […]
Repatriation means the return of someone to their own country. As part of my series “Repatriate Interviews” I talked to Tina Busch, a German writer, translator and mother of two. After living the expat life in the US for several years, she her family moved back to Germany last year. Now the time of repatriation […]
It’s late on Friday, but I still like to share my monthly Friday Link Love with you. Here are some articles, and tweets that I’ve clipped over the last weeks as well as some videos. Articles I’d like to share my friend’s article about workplace diversity on D!gitalist Magazine. In the global world of today, this […]
This is my fourth time linking up with Running with spoons. and my Three Word Thursday No. 21. So here are my random thoughts of the day. Women are strong and awesome. I just want to give a big shoutout to all the wonderful women I know and to women in general. I just had a couple FaceTime […]
Speaking German is not always easy. Have you been living abroad for some time? Do you have children? Do your children go to public schools and not to a German private school? Your children don’t speak enough German and make grammar errors more frequently? Are you looking for new ideas how to improve your children’s […]
Back to school and other stuff. Thinking out loud #2 Last week I participated in this linkup from Amanda’s running with spoons for the first time. I thought it might be weird to have another post format for Thursdays, but I eventually realized that I can combine the two post styles. “Thinking out loud” is three […]
Just a random post because it is National Bratwurst Day. Yes, that’s right. I wouldn’t have known, but Huffington Post keeps me posted about important stuff like that 😉 Celebrate National Bratwurst Day. I’ve actually planned pasta for the family’s dinner, but I will definitely grill these sausages from Costco tonight too.
A camping weekend in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park was the last adventure of our summer break. It took us about 3 hours too long to get there, because you know, Bay Area traffic sucks. It sucks in general and even more on a Friday afternoon. Nevertheless it was worth it as Camping in California […]
Words of the day
Cheers to a New Year and another chance for us to get it right.

I’m Kathrin, a German who’s been living the last 9 years in the crazy world of Silicon Valley. Even though I love our life in California, I’m still missing Köln (Cologne) and the German lifestyle a lot. On this blog I share some of my stories and ruminate about what home really means. I’m a mother of two girls and the wife of an iSlave, a teacher, a social introvert and very passionate about the things I do.
I’m glad you’re here! Schön, dass du hier bist!
