In my monthly link love I’m sharing articles, pictures, books and videos I’ve clipped during the last month. We were on vacation over Thanksgiving and I was busy doing nothing. That’s why this December Link Love is rather short. If you have a book or and interesting article you want to share, please comment! Thank […]
It’s the most wonderful time of the year…. and for a German this time is especially shaped by Weihnachtsmärkte (Christmas markets). A Christmas market is a street market associated with the celebration of Christmas during the four weeks of Advent and I’m sure that almost every single German citizen visits at least one each year. The History […]
Today was a beautiful Sunday with sleeping in, family breakfast, a bike ride with my guy, decluttering the garage, baking a Mohn-Streuselkuchen (poppy seed crumble cake) and some shopping. I realized that it’s only seven more weeks to Christmas! And we’re going to Germany for Weihnachten and I’m very much looking forward to it. I […]
’tis the season we are busy…. We all know, it is this time of the year when things tend to get crazy. Holiday parties, choir performances, gift exchanges, decorating, baking, crafting, shopping….. And on December 10th, 11th or even 14th you realize that Christmas is less than two weeks away and you still need some gifts […]

It is beginning to look a lot like christmas…. every store you go. It is very American to dress up according to the season. Or maybe a Anglo-Saxon custom, because we all remember Mr. Darcy’s reindeer jumper from the first Bridget Jones movie. Anyway, it is very common here in the US to wear something matching […]
Words of the day
Cheers to a New Year and another chance for us to get it right.

I’m Kathrin, a German who’s been living the last 9 years in the crazy world of Silicon Valley. Even though I love our life in California, I’m still missing Köln (Cologne) and the German lifestyle a lot. On this blog I share some of my stories and ruminate about what home really means. I’m a mother of two girls and the wife of an iSlave, a teacher, a social introvert and very passionate about the things I do.
I’m glad you’re here! Schön, dass du hier bist!
