Kalalau trail, Napali Coast State Park, Kauai After 2011, this is the second time we hiked the first part of this beautiful trail along the Napali coast. The drive from Hanalei to the trailhead next to Ke’e Beach takes about 20 minutes and you get wonderful views of Hanalei Bay, Wainiha Bay and the famous […]
Have you ever been to Costa Rica? If not, you should definitely add it to your list of travel destinations. You don’t have a list? Then you should most definitely start one. Our family made a list of dream destinations at the beginning of 2014. Hey, you have to keep dreaming! Everyone wrote down 5 places […]
I need to write about my adventures quicker, so they do not overtake me. Three weeks ago Karneval in Cologne (Köln) started. It’s one of the biggest events of the year in this city. It’s what I came to Germany for. Well, besides seeing my family and friends. And it is something hard to describe for […]
It was a very special walk on the Sunday a couple weeks ago. A day trip through the streets of the capitol of Sweden: Stockholm. I was on my way to Germany to see my parents and to celebrate “Karneval” in Köln. I flew to Stockholm with Norwegian Airlines from Oakland. A very affordable […]
Happy New Year! It’s 2016 and time for a fresh start and more blog posts, which is one of my New Year’s resolutions. The best resolution I think posted my husband: Spend more time with people & things that make you happy and less with those which do not. We will try that together. It was […]

It’s been way too long since my last post. Life just got in the way and the end of the year madness was insane. But summer officially started and on Tuesday me and my two girls landed in Germany for our annual visit. Today, still suffering jet lag, we spent the day in Düsseldorf (capitol of […]

I’m Kathrin, a German who’s been living the last 9 years in the crazy world of Silicon Valley. Even though I love our life in California, I’m still missing Köln (Cologne) and the German lifestyle a lot. On this blog I share some of my stories and ruminate about what home really means. I’m a mother of two girls and the wife of an iSlave, a teacher, a social introvert and very passionate about the things I do.
I’m glad you’re here! Schön, dass du hier bist!
