I need to write about my adventures quicker, so they do not overtake me. Three weeks ago Karneval in Cologne (Köln) started. It’s one of the biggest events of the year in this city. It’s what I came to Germany for. Well, besides seeing my family and friends. And it is something hard to describe for […]
It was a very special walk on the Sunday a couple weeks ago. A day trip through the streets of the capitol of Sweden: Stockholm. I was on my way to Germany to see my parents and to celebrate “Karneval” in Köln. I flew to Stockholm with Norwegian Airlines from Oakland. A very affordable […]
Happy New Year! It’s 2016 and time for a fresh start and more blog posts, which is one of my New Year’s resolutions. The best resolution I think posted my husband: Spend more time with people & things that make you happy and less with those which do not. We will try that together. It was […]
I’d like to share some things I photographed during my visit in Germany. Strange, unimportant items that you start noticing when you haven’t been in a place for a long time. I want to start sharing some of our travel experiences. Last year in Spring Break I took my girls on a road trip to Death Valley. We stranded in the middle of nowhere because the alternator of our Eurovan died on me. After a 2-night break in Ridgecrest, CA we eventually spent only 24 hours […]

I’m Kathrin, a German who’s been living the last 9 years in the crazy world of Silicon Valley. Even though I love our life in California, I’m still missing Köln (Cologne) and the German lifestyle a lot. On this blog I share some of my stories and ruminate about what home really means. I’m a mother of two girls and the wife of an iSlave, a teacher, a social introvert and very passionate about the things I do.
I’m glad you’re here! Schön, dass du hier bist!
