This is mostly for my friends in Germany: Some of you have sent me texts, emails and WhatsApp messages last night and this morning. "The only good thing about this is, that you're coming back, now, right?", "This is terrible!", "Let me know when...
Participating in the NaBloPoMo I knew this day was coming: Election Day in the USA. My blog is not political and on my list of planned blogposts for the month I had written down a different topic for today. But...
It is beginning to look a lot like christmas.... every store you go. It is very American to dress up according to the season. Or maybe a Anglo-Saxon custom, because we all remember Mr. Darcy's reindeer jumper from the first Bridget...
Ewoldsen Trail Julia Pfeiffer Burn State Park, Big Sur, California My husband and I were lucky to sneak away for a couple's weekend. We went and stayed in Monterey, CA and on Saturday we drove down Highway 1. We stopped at...
If you have ever been to California, you hopefully have seen the most beautiful stretch of Highway 1 between Carmel-by-the-sea and Cambria. And if you haven't been to the Golden State yet, make sure you won't miss this part, because it...

I’m Kathrin, a German who’s been living the last 12 years in the crazy world of the Silicon Valley. Even though I love our life in California, I’m still missing Köln (Cologne) and the German lifestyle. On this blog I share some of my stories and ruminate about what home really means. I’m a mother of two girls and the wife of an iSlave, a teacher, a social introvert and very passionate about the things I do.
I’m glad you’re here! Schön, dass du hier bist!
