I need to be creative. This blog has become a big part of my life. It has become my passion and working on it, is something that ignites me. I’m aware that it’s not important for many other people. The blog doesn’t have more than a few hundred followers and I’m aware that most of […]
Summer in California Here are my summer favorites. It’s been a good summer so far. The first summer since 2013 that we didn’t travel to Germany for the summer break. My plan was to enjoy the endless Californian summer to the fullest. After we had to say goodbye to my parents (definitely not on my […]

Do you like to make a plan? I am a planner. I love making plans. Especially planning our next trip. A good friend recently said that I was not happy, if I wouldn’t have the next adventure lined up. I cannot contradict. Having a plan is in my nature. Writing a to-do, grocery or packing […]

I am not a cat person. I’m a dog lover. Always wanted a dog, still don’t have one. Our rental doesn’t allow pets other than fish, hamster and chickens, which we all have. Anyway, last week we spent four nights in a rustic cabin outside of Boulder, Colorado. This trip was kind of spontaneous and […]
Bay Area Summer Activities 2017 We’ve been living in the Bay Area for the last nine years and it’s only our second summer in which we are not going home to Germany. That’s why I made lots of plans what to do and already posted the list about 55 summer activities. Most of these things […]

I’m Kathrin, a German who’s been living the last 9 years in the crazy world of Silicon Valley. Even though I love our life in California, I’m still missing Köln (Cologne) and the German lifestyle a lot. On this blog I share some of my stories and ruminate about what home really means. I’m a mother of two girls and the wife of an iSlave, a teacher, a social introvert and very passionate about the things I do.
I’m glad you’re here! Schön, dass du hier bist!
